Thunderstorms likely to hit Klang Valley, Negri Sembilan on Sunday (June 5)

PETALING JAYA: The Klang Valley and parts of Negri Sembilan are expected to experience thunderstorms on Sunday (June 5), says the Meteorological Department.

The severe weather warning was issued at around 10.50am on Sunday.

It said thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected over the Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang districts.

“Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya as well as Jelebu and Seremban are also expected to face the same weather. These thunderstorms are expected to go on until 2pm,” it said.

The Klang Valley has been hit with severe weather a number of times this year with Kuala Lumpur experiencing flash floods over a half-dozen times so far.

Several areas in the capital city were submerged on May 25 after a downpour from 11am to 4pm on a Friday nearly one month after a similar episode that saw many major roads submerged.

Floods were reported in at least six areas, including Jalan Ampang, Jalan Rahmat, Jalan Segambut and Jalan Dutamas 2.

The federal capital has been hit by floods about half a dozen times since Dec 18, when major floods saw thousands of cars submerged and people seeking refuge on rooftops.
