Police in final phase of investigating incident where supercar convoy stopped truck on NSE

JOHOR BARU: Police are in the final phase of completing investigations into the case of a white pick-up truck colliding into a supercar convoy on the North-South Expressway (NSE) near Sedenak, Kulai.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said that a total of 11 people, including the female driver of the truck, have been called in to help with the investigation.

“We have recorded their statements and gathered all of the information that we needed from the initial investigations, including the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage on the highway.

“When the investigation papers are completed, we will hand it over to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) to get their views on the matter,” he said when met after 215th Police Day celebrations at the Johor police headquarters here on Friday (March 25).

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, Section 48 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for endangering the safety and causing inconvenience to other road users, and Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

“The female driver claimed that she was punched and assaulted in the incident and we will look into this matter,” he added.

Earlier, on Monday (March 21), a video showing a fleet of supercars stopping at KM34 of the NSE near Sedenak went viral on social media.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow confirmed that a police report had been lodged over the incident.

“The incident took place at around 6.10pm on Friday (March 18), when a pick-up truck hit a supercar on the highway.

“The pick-up truck driver was driving dangerously and hit the Lamborghini,” he said.

He added that the 28-year-old woman who was driving the truck had surrendered herself to the police at about 1am on Monday at the Kulai police headquarters.
