Malaysia, Uruguay can do a lot together in port operations, development, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia and Uruguay can do a lot to work together in port operations and development, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said this was due to the fact that China was also Uruguay’s main trading partner.

“The Strait of Malacca is a major conduit for Uruguay’s vessels en route to China’s markets and vice versa.

“I can see that Malaysia and Uruguay can do a lot to work together in port operations and development as China is also Uruguay’s main trading partner,” he said in a Facebook post Saturday (March 26).

The MCA president also posted a picture of him at Uruguay’s Transport and Public Works Minister’s office during a courtesy call there on Saturday.

Dr Wee added that he was able to admire the great view of Montevideo, Uruguay from the office.

“In the distance, you can see the Port of Montevideo. This port is rapidly growing and very busy,” he said.

On Monday (March 21), Dr Wee arrived in Montevideo, Uruguay, to attend LACAC’s XXIV Ordinary Assembly.
