Covid-19: Another 9,673 new cases recorded

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 9,673 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (April 15).

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal 9,648 of the new Covid-19 infections were local transmissions, while 25 were imported cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,372,697 cases since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 16 deaths were recorded on Friday, with five classified as brought-in-dead.

This brings cumulative number of deaths to 35,397.

The number of active cases dropped by 4,610 to 113,175.

Of the total, 357 (0.3%) are in quarantine centres, while 2,281 (2%) are hospitalised. Another 152 (0.13%) are in intensive care units, with 87 requiring ventilation assistance.

The remaining 110,385 (97.5%) are in home quarantine.
