Cops cripple robbery gang responsible for break-ins, vehicle thefts in Sg Buloh, Gombak

SUNGAI BULOH: A robbery gang, responsible for about 10 cases of house break-ins and vehicle thefts in Sungai Buloh and Gombak, was busted with the arrests of three men.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Shafa’aton Abu Bakar said the suspects were detained in an operation codenamed Ops Khas Kuang, conducted at Taman Sri Hijau and Taman Sri Putra Kuang in Rawang, as well as in Sungai Buloh between Nov 28 and Dec 3.

“We seized various items including a car, a television, a tablet, several mobile phones and tools used for the robberies.

“We believe they were responsible for about 10 robbery cases in several districts,” she told a press conference at the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters on Friday (Dec 10).

Initial investigations revealed that the gang had been active since September, she added.

“They would target houses and business premises. For the business premises, they would pose as customers before robbing the victims.

“The suspects would sell the stolen loot and split the profits between the gang members,” she said.

The suspects have records for prior robbery and drug-related offences, said Supt Shafa’aton.

“Two of the suspects have been remanded until Sunday (Dec 12), while another has been handed to Tampin police for another offence,” she said.

She urged those with information on any criminal activity to contact the nearest police station.
