Steam Has A Lunar New Year Sale Ongoing Right Now
The Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and as usual, Steam has a sale to commemorate the celebrations. It’s also the first time for this particular sale as a minor one, rather than the four major seasonal sales that the platform has annually. It’s also only a Steam sale in a technical sense, since in actuality it’s more like individual publishers having their own sale on the platform.
One of them is Rockstar Games, through which you can get things like GTA IV: The Complete Edition for RM18.60. As for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, which only has their online components as major DLC addons, you can get these for RM53.10 and RM72.27, respectively, not counting bigger bundles that give you more premium currency. You can also get the GTA Trilogy Remaster, which has just made its way to Steam, for RM94.50, but the two newer games are probably a better deal.
From other publishers, Bandai Namco has the Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – Top Gun: Maverick Edition going for RM49.89. It’s specifically only for this edition too, strangely, so if you want the Ultimate Edition, it’s probably better to wait for the next sale. Beyond that, Scarlet Nexus, Code Vein and Tales of Arise are also good picks, but they have the same odd limitation of only certain editions being discounted.
If you’re in the mood for older or simpler games, Capcom has many of its Dead Rising, Ace Attorney and Megaman games on discount. Unfortunately, its bigger titles right now, like Monster Hunter Rise and Devil May Cry V are not seeing discounts that are more significant than before. It’s much the same story with Sega, which has the older Yakuza games pretty steeply discounted, but you’ve probably seen these kinds of prices before.
According to the announcement, this Lunar New Year sale is a bigger deal for Steam China than anywhere else, which explains the number of games with no English translation. Valve also says that this sale period ends on 27 January, but each of the publisher sale have their own end dates. So that’s also something to consider beyond only specific editions of games getting discounted.
