The media industry experienced a number of changes so far in June, specifically Star Media Group and Media Prima.
Christine Chang has stepped down from her role as Group Marketing Officer of Star Media’s Group after joining in December of last year.
Prior to her stint with Star, Christine was the GM at Havas Media Group after leaving behind the agency life. According to Christine’s LinkedIn, after 16 years of managing client brands on a day-to-day basis, she decided to set up and grow a new company by joining Havas Media KL.
Last month, Star Media Group’s CEO, Andreas Vogiatzakis resigned after nine months on the job. A temporary special committee composed of three non-executive directors – Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, Datuk Dr Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Rouse and Chan Seng Fatt – was set up until a suitable candidate was found for the CEO position.
On the other hand, Media Prima’s 21 year old ntv7 Mandarin 7 ceased broadcast on 8 June and merged with 8TV Mandarin News. According to a facebook post by ntv7 Mandarin 7, the merger will increase the news channel’s air time from 35 minutes per night to an hour.
8TV Mandarin news has 1.2 million viewers and is broasted live on Youtube and Facebook, with an average of 6.5 million views on YouTube and 37 million views on Facebook per month.
