GoCar Opens New GoEV Zone In Mid Valley; Cyberjaya And More Locations Coming Soon

The app-based car sharing company GoCar last year has added electric vehicles into its fleet by launching the GoEV service. The EV comes in the form of the 2019 Nissan Leaf which consumers can experience through GoEV Share short-term rentals or they can opt for the GoCar Subs long-term subscription plans if they want to utilize it for 12 to 36 months.

At the time when it was launched last December, the GoEV was made available in three locations including GoCar’s hub in Petaling Jaya, Avenue K Kuala Lumpur, and MyTown Cheras. The company has since quietly activated more GoEV Zone including Edaran Tan Chong Motor’s Glenmarie showroom as well as the latest in the list – Mid Valley Megamall.

We have actually noticed the establishment of the Mid Valley’s location since late February and GoCar has finally made it official on 11 March through an announcement on its Facebook page. As opposed to other GoEV’s locations that we have personally visited including as ETCM Glenmarie and Avenue K which only have one Leaf each, GoCar has provided two Leafs for Mid Valley.

When we reached out to GoCar in order to obtain more insight into the progress of GoEV’s expansion effort, we were told that Cyberjaya area is next in the list and will be activated in the coming months. GoCar also said that it is aiming to have 50 GoEV zones by the end of 2022 and have indeed considered other states beyond Klang Valley although the company has no further updates to share at the moment.



The GoEV Zone activation in Mid Valley Megamall was just one of many EV-related happenings that took place last week in Malaysia which also include the launch of the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Mercedes EQA, and Singgah-Singgah Melaka Tourist Bus Service. Things have seemed to finally picking up for EV in Malaysia as of late, so expect to hear more development within the space very soon.
