No disruption in govt delivery system if Johor polls are held, says MB

JOHOR BARU: There will be no disruption in the government delivery system in the event a state election is held, says Datuk Hasni Mohammad.

The Johor Mentri Besar said that the government machinery would continue to function normally during the period.

“All our plans will not be disrupted, especially those planned under Johor Budget 2022,” he said during the opening of the drone test site in Medini here on Thursday (Jan 20).

Talk of an impending state election gained traction following the death of Kempas assemblyman Datuk Osman Sapian of Bersatu recently leaving the present Umno-led government with only a one-seat majority at the Johor state assembly.

At present, the state assembly is made up of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition comprising Umno (14 seats) and MIC (two); Perikatan Nasional consisting of Bersatu (11) and PAS (one); while the Opposition bloc is made up of Pakatan Harapan’s DAP (14), PKR (seven) and Amanah (six).

On the event, Hasni said that the state government welcomed all drone technology players in Malaysia and the region to set up their businesses here.

The Drone & Robotics Zone Iskandar (DRZ Iskandar) will bring in RM351mil in investments and generate about 1,000 jobs by 2025, he said.
