Actor Zul Ariffin fined RM30,000 for uploading lewd content

PETALING JAYA: Actor Zul Ariffin (pic) was fined RM30,000 after he pleaded guilty to uploading lewd content on his social media last March.

Zul or his real name Zulkifli Ariffin pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him in front of Judge Noorhisham Mohd Jaafar at the Sessions Court in Sepang, Selangor on Tuesday (Oct 4).

According to The Star Media Group’s Bahasa Malaysia portal mStar, the actor who was the plaintiff was represented by two lawyers, Saresh Mahendran dan Sivaram Prasad.

Zul, 36 was at the court at 8.15am, wearing a grey suit and was seen to be calm.

Accompanying the ‘Talbis Iblis’ actor was his close friend and producer of the film Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai and his manager.

The actor had earlier uploaded the video on his Instagram, attracting various reactions from netizens, with some saying it was not suitable for viewing, especially in Malaysia because of its lewd content.

Zul was charged under Section 233 (1) (A) of the Communication and Multimedia Act of 1998.
