sooka Partners With Amagi To Launch Free Ad-Supported Channels

sooka, the streaming service owned by Astro, has announced a partnership with Amagi to bring Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) services to the platform. With the partnership, sooka now has three new channels that do not require a subscription for users to access.

The new free channels are K-Popcorn, ESTV, and CarbonTV, all with ads. Based on our try of these channels, it seems that users need to watch two video ads before being able to watch the programmes. Aside from having to deal with ads, you don’t even need to have an account to watch the free channels.

K-Popcorn streams several Korean dramas whereas CarbonTV offers outdoor-themed shows. Gamers can use ESTV to watch several esports programmes available on the channel, with content ranging from tournaments to documentaries.

Astro says that they plan on adding more FAST channel within this year. So far, sooka has a total of seven free live channels including Astro Awani, TV 1, and TV 2. To access VIP channels and shows, you’ll need to pay for a subscription that ranges from RM15.90 to RM34.90. Aside from Android and iOS devices, the app is also available on selected Samsung, LG, and Android TVs.
