Two under remand over RM500,000 corruption case

JOHOR BARU: A retired government-owned company manager and another manager from a different firm have been remanded for five days to help with the investigation of an alleged RM500,000 corruption case.

The remand order against them was issued by Magistrate Suhaila Shafi’uddin at a Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday (Jan 6).

The remand period is until Monday (Jan 10).

According to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) sources, the two suspects, both 61, were arrested at the MACC office here between 12.30pm and 5pm on Wednesday (Jan 5).

It was learnt that between 2019 and 2020, the retired suspect, who used to be the manager of a government-owned company in Segamat, had allegedly received bribes from the other manager as inducement to receive contracts in the plantation industry in the district.
