Syed Saddiq should apologise to Barisan, Umno, says Johor MB

JOHOR BARU: Muda president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman (pic) should stop playing immature politics and apologise to Umno and Barisan Nasional, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He added that he had been carefully observing what Syed Saddiq said in a video that went viral on Monday (Oct 17).

“In Syed Saddiq’s speech in Muar, he recklessly slandered Umno and Barisan without a investigating, without evidence and witnesses, causing a commotion at the speech,” said Onn Hafiz

“As the Johor Barisan general election operations director, I strongly deny Syed Saddiq’s extreme accusations which give a bad image to Umno and Barisan,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Oct 18).

Onn Hafiz added that even Muar Umno youth chief Mohd Helmy Abd Latif denied the accusations.

He said Syed Saddiq needs to be held accountable for the accusations intended to inflame the people’s feelings of hatred towards Umno and Barisan.

“Stop immature politics. I urge him to apologise to Umno and Barisan members publicly as soon as possible,” he added.

On Sunday (Oct 16), it was reported that a group of rowdy youths attempted to disrupt Syed Saddiq’s speech during a ceramah in Muar.

The group, clad in black and riding motorcycles, started causing trouble in the middle of the speech.

“They were already lingering in the area from the beginning of the ceremah but only started shouting ‘liar’ during Syed Saddiq’s speech.

“The group then caused a further ruckus by trying to force their way into the ceramah tent,” Muda vice-president Mutalib Uthman told Sinar Harian.

However, the group was stopped by policemen and Muda supporters.
