Man found dead in front of Ipoh house

IPOH: An unemployed man was found dead in front of his Taman Klebang Putra, Chemor home following what is believed to be a hit-and-run incident.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the 37-year-old victim is believed to have been hit by a motorcycle on Friday (Dec 30) at about 11.30pm.

Comm Mohd Yusri said a passer-by had informed the victim’s brother-in-law following the incident, as he had been staying at the house for a week prior to the incident.

“A witness saw a motorcycle fleeing the scene. The witness also saw the deceased lying down in front of his (victim’s) house and panting,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Dec 31).

“Initial investigations by the Perak police and Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital forensic teams found injuries to the deceased’s right ear and arm, both legs and body,” he said.

He added that while there is a possibility that the deceased died due to an accident, further investigation is required to determine the cause of death

Comm Mohd Yusri said that the victim had fled from the Parit Buntar police’s surveillance earlier.

“The Parit Buntar police had lodged a report against the deceased, who was being investigated under Section 6(3) of the Crime Prevention Act,” he said.

Comm Mohd Yusri said a classification on the case will be determined once the cause of death is known.

“A post mortem will be conducted at the hospital. The police will investigate the matter from all angles,” he said.
