Don’t call for GE15 during flood season, says Anthony Loke

SHAH ALAM: Do not dissolve Parliament and call for the 15th General Election (GE15) during the year-end monsoon season, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said the monsoon season is not a suitable time to hold elections, adding that the people’s well-being must be prioritised.

“We have to be patient for some time because we want to settle the people’s problems. We must help the flood victims before we go for polls,” he said during the party’s special congress here on Sunday (Sept 25).

Speculations are rife that Parliament will be dissolved after Budget 2023 is tabled, paving way for GE15. Budget 2023 is set to be tabled on Oct 7.

On Sept 24, a group of protesters led by Muda had staged a protest outside the Sogo shopping complex to urge the government to not call far elections in view of the looming flood season.
