Preparation for this project was already underway, with an aim to begin operation of the plan in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2028 (FY2028) with annual production capacity of 30,000 units. However, in light of recent changes in the global hydrogen market environment, Honda reassessed the plan in the direction to reduce initial production capacity and delay the timing to begin full production.The original plan had qualified to receive a government subsidy under a project led by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to support the establishment of supply chains consisting of Japanese manufacturing companies in the GX (green transformation) * area. MHI-AC&R received acclaim not merely for its facility upgrade but also for its measures taken to ensure proper execution and its detailed control method, etc.Reduction in Carbon Emissions from Adoption of C-puzzle80Further energy saving with the existing cold storage warehouse was difficult owing to the facility's relatively low specific power consumption*. Adoption of the latest C-puzzle model, however, enabled a variety of energy saving methods, for example by reducing equipment dimensions, which enabled more efficient operation. In addition, availing of the cold climate of Hokkaido where the facility is located, a design was adopted to promote high-efficiency operation when the outside temperature is low.A variety of innovations were also made to cut costs. For example, the numbers of freezers and cooling units were reduced based on calculation of the requisite cooling capacity in reflection of the warehouse's operating conditions. Furthermore, cooling units and ducts were improved in order to prevent reductions in the weight and volume of stored food or other items caused by desiccation if they come in contact with cold air, and power to operate the facility was reduced. To save energy, a new control method was adopted combining conventional power demand control and power standardization control. The new method automatically adjusts the number of freezers and cooling units in operation and achieves stable, energy-saving operation by minimizing the number of units in operation and preventing unnecessary speed changes and freezing unit starts and stops. These innovations not only reduce initial costs but enable cuts in running costs as well.The newly adopted C-puzzle80 is a model positioned as a large-capacity unit within the series ranging from 10HP to 80HP. The series can accommodate outside temperatures ranging from -15degC to +43degC, and multiple models can be combined. A preclinical animal study showed that the combination of dorzagliatin and sitagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, improves blood glucose levels, promotes insulin secretion, and enhances GLP-1 secretion. The combination therapy was more effective than dorzagliatin alone. The blood chemistry analysis further indicates that the combination therapy has potential benefits for lipid lowering (especially LDL) (See Figure 1).Dorzagliatin is the world's first glucokinase activator independently developed by Hua Medicine, aiming to restore the imbalanced blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes by repairing the impaired function and expression of glucokinase and enhancing glucose sensitivity in patients with type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin, a DPP4 inhibitor, improves glucose control by blocking degradation of GLP-1. This study aims to assess the impact of long-term administration of dorzagliatin and the combination of dorzagliatin/sitagliptin on glucose homeostasis in high-fat diet-induced obesity/diabetes (DIO) mice.In the study, the DIO mice were administered dorzagliatin at a dosage of 30 mg/Kg/day, or a combination of dorzagliatin (same dose) and sitagliptin (20mg/Kg/day) for 30 days. Mice on a standard diet served as controls. On day 30, the glucose levels were all reduced compared to pre-treatment, and the combination therapy was more effective than dorzagliatin alone. Dorzagliatin monotherapy promoted insulin and GLP-1 secretion, and the combination resulted in a further increase.Blood biochemical analysis showed that drug treatment significantly improved glycated serum protein (GSP) in DIO mice. Combination therapy also improved low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. LDL transports cholesterol to arteries, and excessive LDL can cause arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction, stroke, and peripheral arterial diseases. These results suggest that combination therapy has potential benefits reducing blood lipids (especially LDL) while restoring glucose homeostasis, exploring possibilities for clinical medication and new indication expansion. This single-center prospective observational study aimed to evaluate the short-term efficacy and underlying mechanisms of dorzagliatin in T2DM patients. TOKYO, June 18, 2025 - (JCN Newswire via SeaPRwire.com) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701), in collaboration with Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., has conducted an experiment using AI to predict drug combinations that can possibly enhance the effectiveness of certain cancer treatments. As a result, the time required to produce predictions may potentially be reduced by approximately 50% when compared to Chugai’s conventional methods.Drug combination therapy, in which two or more drugs are used in combination, is a promising option in the treatment of cancer. This therapy is expected to have a higher therapeutic effect than when single agents are administered. However, the prediction of drug combinations has conventionally required time-consuming manual research and analysis of information related to diseases, mechanisms of action (*1), and indications (*2) based on vast amounts of publications and clinical trial data.To resolve this, NEC built a system that predicts drug combinations by using in-house developed graph-based AI technology that leverages the vast amount of biochemical information and clinical trial data that is available from the AACT (*3) and ChEMBL (*4) databases. By providing the system with the name of a target drug to be administered for a cancer treatment, it can quickly suggest candidate combinations to increase the efficacy of the target drug. The system also assists in understanding and validating prediction results by providing rationales about why certain combinations are selected.In this experiment, information on approximately 400 combinations of cancer drugs was randomly extracted from the AACT. By using this information, NEC evaluated whether candidate drugs had the potential for clinical application and if they would enhance the effectiveness of a cancer treatment when administered with other drugs. As a result, NEC confirmed that the system can potentially reduce the time required to predict drug combinations by approximately 50%.
